Founder

Orang Kampung was founded by Datuk Haji Manggar bin Haniff (DMSM,DSM) in early 1975. Started with a small retail and distribution business operated part-timely in Melaka.

The seriousness took him to explore other opportunity by distributing healthcare products in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Johor.

As the demand of herbal and traditional medicine increase, he looks for better opportunity to expand the business by distributing products manufactured by local herbal and traditional manufacturers hroughout the country.

After years in the distribution business, he gained the confident and interest to produce his own herbal and traditional medicine.

With the assistance of family members and relatives, he managed to introduce his own product and well-accepted in the market.

In 1994, May 14 th , Perniagaan Orang Kampung Sdn Bhd was officially incorporated at Lot J7017, Kawasan Perindustrian Merlimau, Melaka. Gamat Oil and Gamat Water are among the earliest product produced. When the National Bereau of Pharmacuetical of the Ministry of Health ordered Herbal and Traditional Medicine manufacturers to have Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standard, Perniagaan Orang Kampung Sdn Bhd was among the first 10 manufacturers awarded the GMP standard 1996.

In the year 1999, Perniagaan Orang Kampung Sdn Bhd becoming the 1 st manufacturer to commercialized Tongkat Ali Juice ready to drink in the market. As of today, Tongkat Ali juice produced by Orang Kampung group of companies still being the ‘bench mark' for other Tongkat Ali producers. In May 2001, Heritage Drinks Industries Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated to manufacture Tongkat Ali drinks and other ready to drink products. As of to date, Perniagaan Orang Kampung Sdn Bhd keep on expanding and incorporated few other companies as a subsidiaries to support her operation. Now, Orang Kampung Group of companies consist of 15 subsidiaries and headed by Orang Kampung Holdings Sdn. Bhd.
